Horses aren't my whole life, but they make my life whole.
When I am an old Horsewoman
I shall wear turquoise and diamonds, and a straw hat that
doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my social security on white wine and carrots,
And sit in my alley-way of my barn and listen to my horses breathe.
I will sneak out in the middle of a summer night and ride the old bay gelding, across the moonstruck meadow if my old bones will allow.
And when people come to call, I will smile and nod as I walk past the gardens to the barn and show instead the flowers growing inside stalls fresh-lined with
straw.
I will shovel and sweat and wear hay in my hair as if it were a jewel.
And I will be an embarrassment to all, who will not yet have found the peace in being free to have a horse as a best friend, a friend who waits at midnight
hour with muzzle and nicker and patient eyes for the kind of woman I will be.
When I am old.

Another month almost gone ---
Good time on vacation -- even though it was cold and muddy. Most years we've had great weather so the odds are still in our favor.
Claudette has a injury-- can't figure out how but she has a "slice" right below her fetlock. It's pretty deep-- but a "clean" cut. She's favoring it a little-- I notice it. Just trying to keep it halfway clean and watch for swelling or infection.
Cannot image how she did... -
Labor Day

Had a GREAT visit with Donna & Jim (Rainmaker) yesterday-- all his horses are really growing and 2 of the younger ones especially Gorgeous and Lucky are just stunning.
Packing and cooking today -ready to camp for a few days this week-- only a little over a month to Shawnee!!! I'm looking so forward to riding and seeing everyone.
I've got an opportunity to be a rep for some riding pants-- so I will probably finalize that next week. More on that to... -

Where did the month go?? Lots of changes.
We did finally move our office August 10th-- It's "ok". I'm really having a time adjusting to the 5 day work week - I usually do it in the winter-- but we are so busy at work in the winter-- it just flies by--- with not much work to do this time of year-- the day really drags.
I've had some "busy" work to do to get ready for the busy season-- but it will be at least a month or 6 weeks before we have any... -

Tomorrow is moving day for our office. My employer (the father) whom I have worked for for 30 years sent all the ladies a beautiful bouquet of flowers today with a very touching note to each one of us -- tears were flowing in the office. !!
I'm resigned-- everything will be ok (I hope) -

Last day working for my current employer-- Sale takes place effective tomorrow August 1st.
It 's gonna be a big change for everyone. I have worked for Dick Williams for a little over 30 years.
But-- life goes on -- At least I have a job.
We will be moving our office next weekend-- August 8th - -

More complaining !! (sorry) Got to see the new office today-- it's mostly decorated with horse pictures-- at least up front--
Bad news-- but no great shock-- after 12 years of having my own office-- I'll be out in the cubicle section-- oh joy!! So-- just about all my "perks" are gone - can't really think of one I'm getting to keep-- other than I guess I still have a job!! (for now anyway) -

The weekend camping trip was good therapy!! I can't believe this weather for July.
I have only 2 Wednesdays left to be off-- my new employer is making me work 5 day weeks -- like most of the rest of the world I guess. Keep saying- I'm thankful I have a job !
4 more working days and I will be on vacation.
I took off Friday and we leave Saturday.
